They can be used as long as the platinum tip elements are not touching. (They are arranged in parallel at the time of shipment.) During use, the platinum elements sometimes get bent and touch. If they are touching, carefully adjust them so that they are no longer touching. When adjusting them, be careful not to move them too much or they might break.
